# Accessibility Statement

Last Updated: September 2026

## Conformance Status

LayerV is **partially conformant** with WCAG 2.1 Level AA. “Partially conformant” means that some parts of the content do not fully conform to the accessibility standard.

## What We've Implemented

Our website includes the following accessibility features:

- **Semantic HTML:** Proper heading hierarchy (h1-h6), landmark regions, `<figure>`/`<figcaption>` for charts
- **Keyboard Navigation:** All interactive elements are focusable and operable via keyboard
- **Skip Link:** A “Skip to content” link is available for keyboard users
- **Focus Management:** Mobile menu traps focus when open; Escape key closes it; focus returns to trigger
- **Color Contrast:** Text meets WCAG AA contrast ratios (4.5:1 for normal text, 3:1 for large text)
- **Focus Indicators:** Visible focus states on all interactive elements using `:focus-visible`
- **Responsive Design:** Content reflows at 400% zoom without horizontal scrolling
- **Reduced Motion:** Animations respect the `prefers-reduced-motion` system setting
- **Form Labels:** All form inputs have associated labels and error messages
- **Screen Reader Support:** Charts include visually hidden text summaries; ARIA labels on interactive components

## Known Limitations

We are aware of the following accessibility gaps and are working to address them:

- **Complex Animations:** The hero animation and interactive demos convey visual narratives that may not be fully equivalent for screen reader users. We provide descriptive aria-labels but some context may be lost.
- **Third-Party Embeds:** External content (YouTube videos, GitHub widgets) may have their own accessibility limitations outside our control.

## Testing

Our accessibility testing includes:

- **Automated Testing:** ESLint with jsx-a11y plugin runs on every code change
- **Manual Testing:** Keyboard-only navigation verified across all pages
- **Screen Reader:** Tested with VoiceOver on macOS
- **Browser Testing:** Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge on desktop; Safari and Chrome on mobile

We have not yet completed a formal third-party accessibility audit.

## Compatibility

This website is designed to work with:

- Current and previous two major versions of Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge
- VoiceOver (macOS/iOS), NVDA (Windows), and TalkBack (Android)
- Browser zoom up to 400%
- High contrast mode and forced colors
